Chaos Rising: Mega Evolutions on the Rise

The Pokémon Trading Card Game continues to explore the world of Pokémon Legends: Z-A with Chaos Rising. The new expansion, released in May 2026, features 122 individual cards, with eighteen Ultra Rares and six Special Illustration Rares among them. Aside from regular booster packs, potential buyers can choose from a wide range of products. This includes booster bundles with six booster packs, booster boxes with 36 booster packs, and Elite Trainer Boxes. The latter consist of nine booster packs, one promo card, and additional game accessories such as card sleeves, dice, and a collectors' box.

Mega Floette ex Sets Records

For the second time after Perfect Order, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, a video game for the Nintendo Switch published in 2025, serves as the backdrop for a Pokémon main set. Chaos Rising is the fourth entry in the Mega Evolution Series of Western expansions and features cards originating in the Japanese set Ninja Spinner. Fittingly, Mega Greninja ex and Mega Floette ex were chosen as its protagonists. Mega Greninja ex comes with 350 HP and is the only card featured as a Hyper Rare. Its ability allows you to place damage counters on opponents' Pokémon for discarding a water Energy card from your hand. Its attack (named Ninja Spinner after the original Japanese set) swings for impressive damage; and the damage output can be increased by returning a water Energy attached to Mega Greninja ex to your hand. Meanwhile, Mega Floette ex is all about resilience. Thanks to its interaction with Ange Floette, a Stadium card that boosts it with an extra 150 HP, Mega Floette ex is able to reach 400 HP. This is the highest value any Pokémon has reached in the game's 30-year history so far.

Other Mega evolution Pokémon featured in Chaos Rising are Mega Pyroar ex and Mega Dragalge ex. One should note that the Special Illustration Rare of Fennekin, a chase card for many collectors, is not featured in regular booster packs. One either needs to purchase it as a single or invest in an Elite Trainer Box, where it is included as a promo card. Special Illustration Rares of Cinccino ex, AZ's Tranquility, and Roxie's Performance are further visual highlights appealing to fans of the game's beautiful artwork.
